Virginia Graziani Lowe, MD, JD

Virginia Graziani Lowe M.D., J.D. is one of a rare breed of attorneys; she is also a practicing Physician. Dr. Graziani graduated from LaSalle University with a BA In biology, and received her MD from Jefferson Medical College.  She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has been a practicing physician for over 20 years with a specialty interest in spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and other neurologic disorders. An Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Graziani has published numerous articles, contributed to many books, and given a variety of lectures on topics ranging from spinal cord injury to diabetes.  She received a Clinical Investigator Development Award from the National Institutes of Health for research on rehabilitation after spinal cord injury.

As a physician in private practice, Dr. Graziani noticed the detrimental effects of increasingly stringent insurance restrictions on her patients’ access to medical care.  Deciding that patients needed an advocate, she earned a law degree, graduating cum laude with a Juris Doctorate from Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law. Dr. Graziani  is now a sought-after expert in the medical and legal  aspects of catastrophic injuries and medical malpractice. She co-teaches “Anatomy for Litigators” to law students at Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law and co-teaches the award winning Continuing Legal Education series “Medicine and the Law” for attorneys. Dr. Graziani has presented at numerous legal conferences, including the Pennsylvania Bar Institute conference “The Catastrophic Injury Case: Quadriplegia, Paraplegia and Spinal Injury Cases.”

Virginia  joined D’Arcy Johnson Day in 2013, bringing her medical expertise and legal education to advocate for the firm’s clients. Since joining D’Arcy Johnson Day, she has successfully advocated for clients with a wide range of catastrophic personal injuries and medical malpractice claims, including motor vehicle accidents with multi-system trauma, brain injury, birth injuries, wrongful death due to medical malpractice, delayed cancer diagnoses, missed spinal epidural abscess resulting in paraplegia and death, missed retinopathy resulting in blindness, adverse drug reactions, and those that have been injured due to medical product liability.
